Ken W. Swindle is a resident of Tuscaloosa and graduated from The University of Alabama Law Enforcement Academy in 1974. He served on the Tuscaloosa Police Department for thirty-four years and was Chief of Police for twenty years before retiring in 2008. He is currently employed with Prince Glover Hayes Law Firm where he is chief investigator.

Ken W. Swindle is a resident of Tuscaloosa and graduated from The University of Alabama Law Enforcement Academy in 1974. He is currently employed with Prince Glover Hayes Law Firm where he is chief investigator. Among the many organizations in which he has held office is the State Board of Alabama Special Olympics, Tuscaloosa Police Athletic League, Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police, FOCUS on Senior Citizens, Shelton State Foundation Board and The Salvation Army Board. Organizations he has served include the Tuscaloosa Jaycees, the Tuscaloosa County Crime Stopper Board, Tuscaloosa Children’s Center Board, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Alabama Peace Officers Association, and the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama. His honors include the Tuscaloosa Exchange Club Police Officer of the Year, the Liberty Bell Award from the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association for his lead hostage negotiations at West End Christian, King Hubbard Lodge FOP Award, Top 10 Law Enforcement Officer of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Alabama Crime Prevention Network Award, two Martin Luther King Race Awards, Safe School Environment award, L.V. Hall Award, FBI Birmingham Community Lifetime Achievement, Pillar of West Alabama, and he received the Southern Christian Leadership Conference Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award. He was also the first inductee into the Special Olympics Hall of Fame. In 2018, Chief was inducted into the Tuscaloosa County Civic Hall of Fame in recognition of his decades of service and commitment to his community. Chief Swindle and his wife, Jill Hayes Swindle, are members of Northridge Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon.
