Bob Prince, Prince Glover Hayes senior partner, recently filed a lawsuit in Tuscaloosa County against a drunk driver whose car collided with Bob’s client’s parked car causing it to strike and seriously injure his client. Bob also sued his client’s automobile insurance carrier. The complaint states that his client had underinsured motorist coverage and that the adverse driver was an underinsured motorist, thereby claiming that the insurance carrier owed his client all existing underinsured and/or uninsured benefits under the policy. Bob’s client required surgery and physical therapy to address his injuries. In addition to his physical injuries, Bob’s client was forced to miss approximately 20 weeks of work and lost a significant amount of wages. The complaint also claims damages for pain and suffering, mental and/or emotional distress, and punitive damages due to the wantonness of the drunk driver.
