Matt Glover, PGH partner, was appointed by the Supreme Court of Alabama to the Standing Committee on Rules of Conduct and Canons of Judicial Ethics. He will serve a three-year term on this committee. This committee establishes and revises the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct and the Canons of Judicial Ethics.
As the preamble to the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct states, “many of a lawyer's professional responsibilities are prescribed in the Rules of Professional Conduct, as well as substantive and procedural law. However, a lawyer is also guided by personal conscience and the approbation of professional peers. A lawyer should strive to attain the highest level of skill, to improve the law and the legal profession, and to exemplify the legal profession's ideals of public service.”
The preamble to the Canons of Judicial Ethics declares, “recognizing Alabama’s leadership in the field of professional ethics and mindful that the character and conduct of a judge should never be objects of indifference and that declared ethical standards tend to become habits of life, the Supreme Court of Alabama deems it desirable to formulate and establish those principles which govern the conduct of members of the judiciary.” The Court did so in 1887.
Prince Glover Hayes congratulates Matt on this very esteemed honor. He certainly exemplifies an ethical and principled attorney.
