August 2, 2023, 3:38pm
PGH associate, Coe Baxter, ably settled a car wreck case obtaining policy limits from the adverse driver and his client’s UIM carrier. The wreck happened in Tuscaloosa County on University Boulevard between East 12th Street and East 12th Place on March 8, 2021. The driver of the vehicle Coe’s client was in had come to a complete stop in traffic and was rear-ended by the adverse driver. Coe’s client suffered injuries to her neck, back and chest. She was transported by ambulance to DCH where she was diagnosed with acute sprains. Afterward, she visited West Alabama Spine and Pain where she received a trans epidural injection for her cervical spine pain. She was also referred to physical therapy which she attended 2 to 3 times weekly for 6-8 weeks. Coe’s client continued to suffer and in August after the wreck in March, she had to have two more epidurals for neck pain and was again referred to physical therapy. She had 20 visits there. After receiving Coe’s demand letter for policy limits on January 20, 2023, the adverse insurer accepted on February 8, 2023. That day, Coe began negotiations with his client’s insurer, sending a demand for policy limits pursuant to her underinsured motorist coverage. It took a little longer to settle this claim, but an agreement was reached and funds were disbursed to Coe’s client on May 12, 2023.
One of the most common types of car accidents people find themselves in is a rear-end collision. Some of the more common injuries are neck strain (commonly referred to as “whiplash”); neck sprain; back injuries, head injuries (from striking the dashboard or windshield); and seat belt injuries among others. If you have been in a rear-end collision, it is important that you seek medical attention, especially since some injuries do not present immediately.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a rear end car collision, call Coe or any of the other car accident attorneys at Prince Glover Hayes for a free consultation.
